When people think of musical theatre, they usually think of London, New York, Toronto, or maybe Vancouver, but Calgary has a vibrant musical theatre scene too. Check out this blog for news, information and a schedule of upcoming shows – your ”one-stop-shop” for anything and everything to do with musical theatre in Calgary and area (anything within an easy day trip). Please let me know about shows coming up that are not on my list, errors or anything else you think I should add to the site.
To launch my new blog, I have set myself an ambitious goal to attend EVERY professional or community musical that opens in Calgary this year (and maybe even a few high school productions) and tell you all about my experiences – the good, the bad, and the hopefully not-too-ugly. This will get me to about 10 times as many shows as I typically manage to make (the best-laid plans…you know how it is), and hopefully will do more to broaden my horizons than it does to dull my passion. While there are many shows I would be keen to see anyway (the January line-up of Guys and Dolls, Assassins and Jeremy de Bergerac are good examples of these), there are a few shows, that, well … let’s just say, I’ll try to keep an open mind!
I have also set up a MeetUp Group so that you can come see the shows with me and share in the adventure and conversation. I hope many of you decide to join me.
