And the envelope please #1 … Calgary’s 2012 Betty Mitchell Award Musical Theatre Winners
Still awaiting the publication of the CAT awards from Saturday night, since I missed the ceremony, but just back from the The Betty Mitchell Award gala at Stage West so I’ll go ahead a publish those winners now. As usual it was an entertaining evening, this year hosted by CBC radio’s Russell Bowers. In addition to the regular awards there were several juried awards for lifetime achievement, including the Greg Bond Memorial Award Honouring Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theatre in Calgary, which went to sound master Chris Jacko. Otherwise, the big winners this year were Alberta Theatre Projects (especially Ash Rizin and the non-musical Playing With Fire: The Theo Fleury Story), and Vertigo Theatre’s Sweeney Todd).2012 Betty Mitchell (“Betty”) Award Winners that were musicals.
